Roan Creek Weaving and Farm is focused on God, family, fiber arts and farming. We have the usual farm menagerie along with jacob sheep and french angora rabbits to supply my spinning wheel and looms with countless hours of occupation. We also sustainably manage over 100 acres of hardwoods, and grow a large garden of heirloom vegetables.
Oh how I love the spring! The sun has once again warmed the earth. Little shoots are showing through last falls leaves and the swollen buds on the trees are bursting open. With the warmth my attention is running out to my garden beds! Time to run the chicken's out of the garden area and start working in last years compost!
Our spring here in middle Tennessee has not been typical. It's warmer than usual temperatures have everything a few weeks ahead of normal.... That is good in some ways.
-not good in others.
Our farmer to consumer list in Linden has met with good response and we are planting in accordance with our percieved demand. Along with growing good food we are trying to improve our precious resources. So this is the time to trim, clean up, transplant and feed fruit, nuts and dirt.
